Gentlemen,

I would like to begin by welcoming our new members and units and by thanking each of you who make each unit a living memorial to all who have gone before us in history that has made this Country what it is today. Perhaps still a bit of room for improvement but by far the greatest Nation on this earth.

The new season is upon us. It has been a long and arduous winter break for most of us and we are all excited to get this year moving. What a terrific list of events for this year. Each of you will be at the heart of the most exciting year so far. Our growth and exuberant enthusiasm in developing the most trained, efficient, safe and accurate Cavalry (Brigade) will continue to show on the field when we all come together as one at Mill Springs Ky.

Each of you is covered by our TWO MILLION DOLLAR LIABILITY  INSURANCE POLICY AT EVERY EVENT YOU LISTED. To the best of my knowledge, NO other Brigade can match that.    I have forwarded  all documents to your Battalion Commanders, which includes a roster of all members, all events, Division structure, Brigade structure, Insurance cards for each member, Insurance certificates for each Battalion Commander,  safety regulations, safety inspection forms,  safety guidelines and more. They in turn should forward to each of you.  I am confident that they will immediately handle this as each of you deserves and has earned the benefit of being a member of this Brigade.

As some of you already know, the North South Alliance (NSA) meeting will be held in St. Louis Missouri on May 5th 2007. I would love to see each of the unit commanders at this meeting as your presence and thoughts are what make this Brigade operate in a close and efficient manner.

I would like to ask that each of you look carefully at your events for this year and make notes of them for consideration next year. I believe that the best way to improve is to work and watch each other, eliminate the “farb” events we all seem to attend on occasion.  The ones that are NOT conducive to our type of actions such as small fields, no support from local business or community, unsafe, have no rules or safety regulations that are enforced, operated and or controlled by a unit not in the Brigade or Division, etc.  If you have an event that you would like to have special recognition by this Brigade, please forward the information to me as soon as possible.

Our goal is to provide bigger, better and safer events for ourselves as well as the communities that are willing to support them.  Each of you should have at least one event that you would like to present to your Battalion Commander as a regional event for next year.  Let’s support each other and spend our efforts and dollars in helping each other.

As a member of this Brigade, you have promised to support the National Event  of this Brigade and the First Federal Division each year as representatives of the Brigade and the Division.  Begin now to work towards that with all of your unit members.

In closing, this hobby will continue to improve with your continued support and efforts.  I personally thank each of you for being a part of this great effort.  Thank You!

Respectfully,

Col. Terry Crowder

Thought for the year:
“Life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting “Holy Sh%#..... what a ride!”
